Meet the Baumler Family!
We love that the Y offers programs to the younger age groups. Our middle son was a late starter and was very shy around other people so we signed him up for flag football when he was in 1st grade. It helped with his social skills and got him active in groups and he didn’t even seem to notice.
Both of our boy’s took swim lessons at the YMCA as well. I feel as a parent living near so much water this was a must. The instructor “Terri Demler” was amazing with our younger son who was scared of the water and wanted nothing to do with it. Very caring and nurturing.

The sports programs at the YMCA are great at teaching the fundamentals of what is going on in that sport so when they are old enough to play with the school they have an idea of what is going on. We have played baseball, flag football, and basketball. My children have learned so many life lessons on being a team player and how to listen and be a stronger person from using programs through the Y.
The one thing at the YMCA that is so close to my family and me is the M&M Stingrays.
We have just completed a full year on the swim team with Bentley who is 8 and I could not have asked for a better sport or a better coach.
Bentley tried out for the swim team 2 years ago and the coach said he wasn’t ready, he said to sign him up for another set of swim lessons. We did this through the YMCA in the winter and then in the fall he tried out and was able to swim the length of the pool and could join.
With the swim team, Bentley has never been more competitive and has never had more drive than he does in the pool.
Swim team started out by getting him for wrestling and to try and make him stronger. We have made so many new friends that are like family. The families that are on the team welcomed us with open arms and guided us through our first year with what to do and what not to do at meets and it has been great having a “family” there rooting on our kid like he is their own.
Our kids are truly better people because of the people that we have met through the YMCA.
